Shining like the Alabama moon

Really nice day yesterday. Like, 20c, blue sky, and not a cloud in sight. I cruised around with the windows and sunroof open and listening to some tunes... Gorgeous weather. I went out to the lake and walked around a bit just before the sun set behind the mountain.

Just to think I'll be going to Calgary where they just had 30cm of snow.

So yeah - things are going to speed up drastically considering I ship out on Saturday. In between now and then I need to write two exams, pack, remove insurance for the car, and many many more things. I'm somewhat nervous about shipping my computer on the plane, but I'm really not sure what the next best way would be to do so. I don't see throwing it on the bus being any less safer for the added inconvenience. Bah. I guess I'll package up the tower nice and snug in the box and hope for the best.

So don't expect much from this blog for the next month or so - I can't really guarantee I'll find the time to do a weekly update. I'll do my best to keep up with the daily sketch, though. I am ahead by ~10 drawings or so, but I want to keep that buffer for when I'm really swamped. That means I'll need to find a sketchbook for when I go to San Fransisco and am away from my machine for a few days. But anyways, here's a highlight from the past week of arting:

Well ok, I actually did that one up this afternoon. My poor ol' hat has seen better days - it's pretty grungy lookin'. I'm actually wearing my Half-Life 2 cap at the moment. So anyways, that about wraps things up. And unless I don't post again in the next little while... Wish me luck...

As the rain falls down upon the interstate
Any doubts she had are all but washed away
One long look back
At Birmingham

Cause theres another chance and a someday soon
Shining like the Alabama moon
Shes looking for her promised land
Out beyond the lights of
Birmingham

One of those songs I heard on the radio as a kid, but never really figured out the title for until now. Brings back some memories of a basement suite with an ocean view.

So fresh, and so clean clean.

So I guess I completely neglected to post last week. Considering that my last entry whined about my business, I think I have my bases covered. I have my last two classes on Tuesday, before starting exams on Friday. So, I'm coming down a little bit from the final assignments/projects/presentations spree I was on. I also got the passport in (hooray for 1.5hrs to get to the office that we were in and out of in 12 minutes), and should arrive in the next week or so.

Oh, and I did a (wee) upgrade on a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing. I ordered a new 250GB HD, DVD burner, and CPU fan on Tuesday. It arrived on Friday, and by the evening I had already formated the system and installed some fresh Windows XP goodness. And, as it always goes when I format, I did so again a day later. I think I had a virus, Windows Explorer kept crashing every ~5minutes. Oh well - I did it all again, except more careful like. I paid special attention to the firewall and anti-virus, and I think it paid off. Things are running smoothly. Now all that remains is to go about my way and reinstall the plethora of programs that I suddenly realize I don't have.

So aside from all that, I have two weeks until I depart for a summer of employment in Calgary. It's scary how time flies. And now for your regularly scheduled art:

It's for an assignment with Frank - to draw your first car and try to relate it to the memories you had with it. It's supposed to be a 1987 Honda CRX Si, but despite spending about an hour on it... It doesn't show. A bit too boxy, I think I also got some proportions wrong. Much prettier car in real life.

Anyhoo, dunno if I mentioned it, but I finally found a torrent for the COMPLETE soundtrack(s) for Cowboy Bebop. It's something I wish I could buy and support all legit-like, but I ain't paying $30 a piece for 5+ albums. Anime stuff can be sooo expensive.

You said you wanted to see PARIS
So I took you to the movie
"Bon Amie" or something French like that

Then you said you were embarrassed
Because I never bought you jewelery
Television shopping fixed all that

Funny thing is that I haven't seen you lately
When I called your house it wasn't you who told me
I heard it all from your dad
I used up all my money on you, baby, now I want it back
